"I took the picture to the framer today, it was the first time I had it out completely in full view and it is absolutely awesome. So much so we, the framers and I all agreed not put glass or a mat on it but just as frame as though it was painted, canvas was the way to go. As you know this was a tremendous loss for us and I had to fight back my emotions when the picture was unveiled today it was that good. My intention is to have it completed for my wife for her birthday but now am thinking I don't know if I want to happily break her heart with the bitter sweet love and pain she will feel when she sees it. I want to thank you and your team for the outstanding work they do, you have no idea what a great gift you have given of. This is a treasure that will be much more valuable to us than most material things we own. I will send you a photo of the finished work but that won't be the measure, the photo of our hearts is the one that will always tell the story. Thank you and thank you LSI team."

DIGITAL FILE TRANSFER OPTIONS

YouSendIt YouSendIt is the easiest method for sending files. Simply go here and upload the files through your regular web browser. Just follow the instructions on the screen. Files must be less than 2 gigabytes each. Just remember to not close your internet browser or navigate away from the page until the file transfer is complete.
If you have files close to or over 1 gig, please call the art department and we will walk you through downloading a small desktop application that will allow you to resume the file transfer if it is interrupted for any reason. This can also help if you do not have a stable internet connection.

Traditional FTP
We also have a traditional FTP site. Using your favorite FTP client software, go to:

ftp://my.lamserv.com
Username: art
Password: artfiles

Create a folder with your company name and then copy your files to that folder. Be sure to send us an email telling us that the files are there. Otherwise, we won't know to look for them. Send the email notification to the LSI salesperson you spoke with, and to art@yourLSI.com.

FILE SPECIFICATIONS

Please Inlcude

  • Hard copy of your layout (PDF file is an acceptable alternative)
  • Filenames of the files you want printed and their location on the disc
  • Any physical references for critical colors (product samples, fabric swatches, etc.)

On The Disk

  • Organize all relevant files into one folder
  • Include all screen and printer fonts used in your files
  • Include all imported or embedded EPS and TIFF artwork files
  • Include native versions of any imported or embedded EPS files (We do not recommend embedding files)

When Laying Out Your Files

  • We recommend using Adobe's InDesign CS3 as the primary layout program
  • Create murals (prints larger than 48"x96") on one complete page, do not tile to separate pages
  • Work at proportional sizes when the graphic is larger than your layout program can handle (example: for a 48"x120" print, design at 1/3rd size, 16"x40")
  • Specify critical colors as Pantone using the palettes available within the layout / drawing application
  • When drawing vector elements, assign colors from a palette rather than "on the fly" (This allows us to edit colors globally)
  • Do not scale, skew, or rotate placed graphics in the layout program. Do this in the file's native application
  • Please provide "bleed" in the layout (.25" for files less than 40"x50", .50" for larger files)

Image Files

  • We recommend: 100ppi Ð 150ppi for all bitmapped images 30"x40" or smaller; 75ppi Ð 100ppi for all bitmapped images over 30"x40"
  • TIFF and raster EPS files should be in RGB color mode. We will charge computer time for large files we convert from CMYK color mode.
  • If your file is in a specific color space (ex. sRGB), please embed the color space profile in your file as well as indicating that color space when your order is placed.
  • Beware of overly complex clipping paths in EPS files. They can cause problems with our RIPs and may result in extra charges and delays in printing.
  • Please do not compress TIFF files.
  • Please convert text to paths (art) whenever possible.

Compatible Software

  • Adobe Illustrator CS3
  • Adobe PhotoShop CS3
  • Adobe InDesign CS3
  • Adobe Acrobat PDF

  • If you use a different program, make sure that it can export / save to a file format compatible with one on our list. If you're not sure, our technical staff will be happy to discuss the options that are available to you.
